Six competitors from the weekend’s Maltavator challenge organised by Malta Guinness in Ghana will on February 24, 2019 lock horns with other winners from six African countries for a whopping US$20,000.
The counterparts from Nigeria, Cameroon, La Côte D’Ivoire, Kenya and Ethiopia must be prepared to meet the resilience of Solomon Baba Akumba who bagged GH¢5,000 for the first position in last weekend’s grand finale.
Samuel Osei Mensah received GH¢3,000 for placing second, Emmanuel Gyeta who placed third received GH¢2,000. Daniel Abotsi, Richard Kuevorve and the only female representative, Precious Appiah, placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively and received GH¢1,000 each.
According to Precious Appiah, determination and a strong will propelled her to surmount all obstacles to place sixth.
Elaborating on the purpose of the challenge, the Brands Manager for Malta Guinness, Mr Roland Ofori, revealed that the challenge was carefully designed to highlight the daily hustle the Ghanaian goes through.
The iconic Malta Guinness, which according to him, has gained grounds in Ghana, was due to its nutritional benefits.
According to the brands manager, the contest will be expanded to cater for the physically challenged in their subsequent competitions.
In terms of sustainability of the challenge, he revealed that the continual existence of the iconic Malta Guinness brand secures the existence of the contest.
The weekend’s contest witnessed two phases, with the first 30 battling for honours.
The 30 contestants were drawn from places including Takoradi, Kumasi and Tamale.
